On September 12, 2019, Calvin Reynolds of Concepts Redefined, was awarded the $1000 Fulfill Your destiny Business Builder Grant at the On Point Executive Center Book Fair hosted at Westshore Plaza.
Mr. Reynolds got his start in business as an illustrator and graphic designer. He launched his company , Concepts Redefined in 2013, with the goal of assisting small businesses with growing their brand and marketing, as well as indie authors who need assistance with character development and illustrating children’s books. Through his company, Calvin created a children’s book character, Jayce the Bee. JAYCE, is an acronym for Just Accepting Yourself Changes Everything.
He has published 6 Jayce the Bee books, and in his own words, his goal with these books is, “To leave a positive mark of inspiration in the hearts and minds of people all over to believe that you have the potential to be great. You just got to “Bee-Lieve!” One of the biggest obstacles Mr. Reynolds has faced, was the pandemic in 2020. At that time, he was laid off and quickly realized that he would have to put his Jayce the Bee book projects on the back burner, as he focused on the indie authors he was working with in order to keep his business afloat.
This minor setback proved to be a blessing in disguise, as it allowed him to expand his business brand, and produce his latest book, Jayce the Bee: Time to Shine. In his own words, “ My dream is to one day see Jayce The Bee as an animated cartoon and a universally known cartoon character that entertains and encourages a diverse group of children and adults alike. I am appreciative of all support and opportunity of the Business Builder Grant program in making this dream a reality. It is a long and hard journey but I “bee”-lieve it can and will happen”. With this grant, he hopes to contribute to the overall expenses involved in maintaining marketing, advertising, supplies, inventory, and travel. He would like to also partner with more indie authors and small publishing companies as an illustrator and consultant within the next few years. We “bee”-lieve Mr. Reynolds has a very bright future ahead for his business, and look forward to seeing him Fulfill his Destiny.
